How to Use AI the Right Way: Stop Copying Prompts and Start Learning

Using AI without learning is like driving fast with no experience. You can reach top speed, but you'll crash on the way. That's how AI is.

I have used AI for a long time to build websites, source products, write my book and learn English. Most people don't fail with AI because the AI is bad. They fail because of how they use it.

How I started using AI

The first time I used AI, I used it to solve problems: what to buy, how to use it, and how it can help me do this. I have never asked AI "how do I make $1 million in one minute so we can be rich".

We used to learn from Google. Now, with AI's speed, people skip the learning, and skipping the learning is what's killing us.

You need to let AI understand that it is helping you, not controlling you. There is a difference.

Mistake 1: Copying other people's prompts

Everybody copies the same prompts from social media. They all get the same answers, build the same things, and still don't understand anything.

The right way: study prompts; don't copy them. Write prompts about your situation: your business, your country, your customers and your goal. The more AI knows about you, the better the answer.

Mistake 2: Asking AI to "do this" instead of "teach me"

If you only ask AI to do the work, you learn nothing. Ask AI to teach you, like a student at a university:

Teach me [skill] like a beginner at university. Make a class for me with a start and closing time for each lesson, and give me a test every week.

Change [skill] to marketing, SEO, coding or English, and AI becomes your teacher. I used AI to learn a lot about fashion, and I'm not a fashion designer.

Mistake 3: Building before asking questions

Before you build, ask AI:

  • What problem does this solve, and who has this problem?
  • What are people searching for?
  • What is the gap in the market?
  • Who are my competitors, and what do their bad reviews say?
  • How will I market this for free?
  • What features will I need in the future?

Mistake 4: Not understanding what you build

Getting a result in 3 minutes and calling yourself done is a trap. I ask AI:

  • Explain what this does in simple words.
  • Why did you choose this way?
  • What could go wrong, and how do I fix it?

Mistake 5: Believing everything AI says

AI can be wrong, and sometimes it sounds very sure when it's wrong. Before you spend money or make a big decision, ask AI for its sources, check the facts yourself, and test what it builds. I still use Google Search to study and check what I learn.

How AI helped me sell out a product

I had a product I thought would take a long time to sell. I used AI to:

  1. Learn and understand the market
  2. Make the ads and the content
  3. Generate images so clients could understand the product
  4. Find the right customers: the age group that could afford it

I sold out the product, faster and faster. Since then I've used AI to sell a lot of stuff.

I built a free classifieds website for young people

When I was young, I used free classified websites to start my business. Today, young people have to pay for premium. So I used AI to build a free classifieds website for them. If they use it, fine; if they don't, I don't mind. I have solved a problem.

The excuses are over

At first I thought I was lazy. But my country didn't have some of the education, information and benefits that others have. When you try a business online and you get blocked and fail, it's easy to give up.

Now the possibilities are coming to the world. The poor and the rich have access to the same information. That's a blessing: nothing is hidden anymore.

  • "I didn't get a good education." That excuse is over.
  • "I have a degree but no job." That excuse is over.
  • "My English is bad." A lot of people are smart and intelligent, but bad English stopped them from blogging. Now AI helps you share your story and your pain. I'm proof.

There's a popular saying: being born poor is not your fault, but dying poor is. A person with bad habits can change and become disciplined, even if they never got this information from their parents. Leaders have no excuse either. The information and data are there to make their countries better.

Young people who use their skills for scams can change that energy and build a better life for themselves. Shortcuts end in jail. Building lasts.

AI is not only a tool; it's a lens

AI opens your eyes to see what's possible, so you stop procrastinating on your dreams and goals.

It's the same thing that happened when Google started. Before people paid attention, others made millions from blogging and YouTube. Many African countries used the internet to create jobs and serve other nations. We are in the wealth creation era, for those who want to win.

How to use AI the right way

  • Think before you prompt.
  • Learn about prompts; don't copy them.
  • Solve a real problem.
  • Take the risk to use AI to bring your idea to life.
  • Be a builder. Think long term.
  • Share what you build. One of your tools could get a lot of people's attention.
  • Believe in what you're building.
  • Reward yourself when you've built something.
  • Learn daily and improve.

When I started using AI, it was hard. Now it's easy, and it helps me move forward in life. I have never regretted using AI. All the bad habits and excuses are going, and AI has made me more confident in my work.

If you use AI the right way, next year your income can grow and your life will never be the same.
