How to Build a SaaS Website With No Idea — and Still Succeed With AI

There are a lot of problems that need to be solved online, and that is where AI comes in. Yes, you can build and sell websites, but ideas don't come easy. Today I'll show you how I use one website to find ideas.

Step 1: Find ideas on ExpiredDomains

ExpiredDomains is a website where most expired and deleted domain names are listed. Say you want to build a SaaS website. Search any keyword you know, or check Google to see what people want. Even short keywords like "game" or "blog" will show you hundreds of domain names.

You're not there to buy. You're there to get ideas. When a domain catches your eye, check its history. You can see what the old website looked like years ago and what problem it was solving.

Turn old websites into new products. Use an old website as inspiration, then ask AI to design and build your own new HTML version. People are always looking for HTML themes and Shopify themes, and you can sell yours on theme marketplaces.

You can do the same with tools. The good news: I gave Claude a task to go to the website, search for SaaS ideas, and pull the data, including how to build each one and how to make money from it. You can also ask Claude to find low-competition keywords that are easier to rank for. I enjoy using it when it works.

Step 2: Buy the right domain

I bought my domain for autorepairtexas.com at a GoDaddy auction, which is a good place to find domains. Before you buy, learn how domains work:

  • Check the history. Make sure the domain doesn't have bad backlinks.
  • Check Google. Make sure nothing is wrong with how it ranks.

For autorepairtexas.com, I used Gemini AI video to make the hero video, and I added real local business listings to the website.

I have bought 10 domains: 7 are built, and 3 I'm still building. Here's what I learned. Buy domains for things you use and understand. I use a 3D printer, so I bought a domain for that. I use SVG files, so I bought a domain for that. When you build something you know, you understand the pain of your customers, and that makes you build well.

I've seen people buy domains and build sites that aren't good, and they still rank on Google for AI tools. But I want you to understand that this business is a long-term game.

Step 3: Build the backend first

When you give AI your prompts, focus on the parts that make the website work:

  1. Backend
  2. Security
  3. Users
  4. Payments
  5. SEO
  6. How fast the website loads
  7. The features that make the website work well

Focus on the front end last. And use your own website yourself, so you can see how it really works.

The questions to ask AI

These are the questions I ask before I build:

  • How can I build with this domain name and solve a problem?
  • What SEO keywords will help this site rank?
  • What are the users looking for?
  • What is the gap in the market?
  • If I build it and can't do everything myself, who do I need to hire?
  • How many people search for this online?
  • How do I market it for free online?
  • How do I build this website for the long term, and what features will I need in the future?

Build to solve your own problems

I built edgefx.si for traders. I used to trade, and I didn't build it for money. I built it, and I use it myself every day. Solve your own daily problems, share your ideas, and be creative.

I have also built a classified website for my country. I remember when the backend was hard and I had to pay someone, and the price was too much compared to Claude. The good news is that education and information are right in front of us.

The untold truth about using AI

AI helps you believe you can solve problems, and that it can be done. Marketing is very important, and you can use the same tools to learn it. Use your time to learn more, from YouTube videos and from AI.

Most people are not good at tech, so your idea can solve a million problems. Build something secure and trusted. AI will always surprise you along the way.

You don't have to do what everyone else is doing with AI. Be different. We are in the no-excuse era, so stay focused and keep moving.

The tools I use to build

  • Domain names: I buy my domains on GoDaddy. GoDaddy Auctions is also a good place to find strong domains.
  • Hosting: I host my websites on Hostinger. Claude can work with your Hostinger account and your database through your browser, so it can upload files and set things up for you.
  • Claude desktop app: To make Claude work like this, you need a laptop and the Claude desktop app. Download it, and Claude can use your computer to help with the difficult tasks, and even build your website for you.

Final words

Some people hold a domain for 15 years with no result. I can buy a domain today and start building today, and keep building for weeks and months. That makes you move faster, and you see results because you've built something for yourself and your future.

While you're learning and building, you're creating a business and solving problems for others. I still have ideas, and I'm still creating. Every time I launch another website, I get better results, and you'll learn a lot on the way.

This is the first idea. I'll keep you updated in the next post.
